Clubs & Sport

We are incredibly proud of the breadth of sporting opportunity and extra-curricular clubs offered to children at St Thomas More’s every week. On average we run about 25 clubs a week across all age groups.

To hear more about some of these teams see below and to read more about how we have used our Sports Premium Funding CLICK HERE.

We offer the children a variety of after school clubs which enrich the curriculum. Click the link below to view the latest clubs:

 Sports - Physical Education

CM Sports work closely with teachers on Continuous Professional Development to ensure the best possible Physical Education curriculum is delivered to all children. Within our school every child has two hours of structured sport a week either with their class teacher or a CM sports coach. Within this children learn not only key fine and gross motor skills but the importance of sportsmanship and rules.

Gymnastics runs for both KS2 and KS1 at STMS. Both Key Stages have a separate lunch time club where they learn balance, strength, co-ordination and routines. Outer school comptitions also take place, hence receiving the Gold sports award in the last two consecutive years due to a wider passion for sport within our school.

XCEL gym work with the school after competitons to develope any talent spotted.

Athletics is another one  of the popular clubs and sports ran at our school. Within this the children take place in both indoor and outdoor athletic competitions. Alongside, to challenge our gifted young sports people, we also enter the local Superstars and Quad Kids.

Portsmouth and Havant athletics club are our local clubs where we signpost our children that would like to enhance their skills. Leaflets and prompts are given by school to the children.

Street Dance

We like to keep up with the interests of the children, therefore we have been running a unique street dance club which promotes independence for the children  to choreography dances to their own music taste.

Cheerleading  We have been lucky enough to have the Portsmouth University coaches in school to deliver quality cheerleading sessions. Promoting links with outer school sporting organisations is a priority for us.  (Phoenix Cheerleading group). We will be entering the 'Cheer Off' in March 2017.

Basketball is another loved club at STMS where the children strive to be the best they can possible be. The last two years our bastketball team have have represented  Havant and Waterlooville at the Hampshire games.

Netball is open to boys and girls. We have been very successful in the league matches and always enter two teams, as we have so many children attending this club.
